Sure, it's not exactly in the center like we stayed last time but we don't mind that at all. the transport to the center is more than fine, the hostel is great (and cheap!), our room is pretty awesome (with the view to the train station, that's what bohun likes the most:)). So that was actually the good choice ;)

after leaving our backpacks in the hostel we left to Kutna Hora. Kami has already been there couple of years ago but bohun hasn't seen it yet and heard so much about it from everyone that wanted to visit this place as well. And he was disapointed ;) it wasn't as pretty as he expected (Kami blames everything on constructions that were going all over the town) but still ok. after few hours of walking around we managed to catch the very cool pink train to Prague and after the short nap in the afternoon we took a tripod and went to Hradcany where we took some (hopefully) pretty night shots. and again we were alone in the Golden Lane:) but still we thought there'll be less tourists in Prague in November...

tomorrow we were planning to go to Brno to visit Iza but as we are a little bit exhausted and it takes 3,5 hours one way to get there we decided to stay in Prague and walk around here. Maybe on Friday we'll travel somewhere but we still need to decide where...

after a while we hit the road again. sure, we did some small trips around but nothing really exciting, just here and there. and tonight we're off to Czech Republic. besides the awesomeness of this place we'll be also able to practice our Czech skills ;) we're gonna stay there for 5 days, mostly in Prague but also want to do a trip or two around: probably to Kutna Hora and, if we feel like spending most of the day in the trains, to Cesky Krumlov. One day after work we ended up in Żyrardów, where we wanted to go for such a long time and it never was on our way. which is kind of funny as it's just 40 minutes by train from Warsaw. It is such an amazing city! You still can feel an industrial atmosphere there, the buildings are so pretty and the spirit there is amazing. at times it felt weird because of the young local people but all in all it was great, we could actually live there! it's also a great place for taking pictures, i've already imagined wedding pictures being taken in the old factories. we really have to come back there some other day, to take more pics of course ;)
then we spent a weekend in pulawy and so on saturday we ended up on a daytrip in Kazimierz and Janowiec. Besides all the touristic attractions, such as the market place or ruins of the castle we visited the old Jewish cemetry located in the middle of the forest and the beautiful gorge. alltogether we walked around 15kms but it was so worth it! we were especially impressed by the gorge. it's funny, i've been living there for years and have never visited any gorge! but i guess that was just the beginning of our trips there.
now i'm in zakopane, attending an extremely boring course about the safety management. it's especially a big waste of time as the weather is lovely and i'd prefer to go hiking somewhere and not siting all day long inside, listening about things i already know about. but well, bohun is joining me on friday and we have a plan to go hiking on saturday. we already have few trails on our minds but i guess we'll decide when we meet!

btw, pics from kazimierz and janowiec are already on picasa, the rest is on facebook but should get to picasa soon as well!

so it´s my last stop, in Germany at Andre´s place. first of all: it´s so amazing to see him and Joachim again as well as to meet Joachim´s brand new wife:) I´m still sorry we couldn´t be at their wedding but at least I can meet them all now:) after all we haven´t seen each other for over a year! and we still do have lots of fun together!
yesterday we met in Cochem which is a lovely touristic town on the Mosel river, with an amazing castle above. We managed to climb up there and it was really worth it, the view was really breathtaking! We could admire the river, the hills, vieyards-all so pretty! In the evening we just stay in front of the computer looking at Joachm´s wedding pictures:) and this morning we went to another city, this time on the Rhine river (I totally forgot the name of the city now, it was something starting with A) where we vistied some exhibitions about geysirs and then, after the boat cruise on the river we visited a real geysir, the highest one in Europe (or worls?) with the cold water, it was up to 60 meters! It was really amazing, that this all was made just by the power of nature! And now I want to go to Iceland to see more geysirs ;) Then we had a nice lunch in the same city and went to see Koblenz where we visited the fortress and saw the Dutsche Ecke (the moint where Mosel meets Rhine, or the other way around;)). Besides that Koblenz was nothing special, just a typical German city in my eyes. But the weather was amazing so we all had a lovely day, and again I took too many pictures;)
Tomorrow morning, at 7.16 am I have a train from Koblenz to Köln, then from Köln to Berlin where I will have 3 hours and then take a train to Warsaw, where I should be at 10.20 pm. Long day, spend mostly in the trains is ahead of me, and I so don´t want to go back home, and to work but at least I´ll see my beloved Berlin on the way, which is always good. These 2 weeks passed by so quickly, I can´t really believe that. I´ve visisted 8 countries, took probably more than 3000 pictures, met so many friends on the way... heh, I need more holidays!

and boh was attending a walkathone in Warsaw today! but guess he´ll write about that by himself ;)

I adored Paris, I really did! It came as a surprise to me as I didn't enjoy it that much last time when I was there (well, ok, it was 12 years ago and just for 6 hours). Sure, in one day you can't see everything but still I did pretty fine I guess (my feet can definitely tell that!).
I arrived to Paris at 10am as Thalys was a little bit late. Still it's amazing for me how you can get from Brussels to Paris in just 1h20min! I expected being totally lost and confused in Parisian underground as everyone said it's the most complicated system ever but I didn't have any problems, not even the smallest one. You just needed to pay attention to all the signs and then it was easy to get around. I really enjoyed going everywhere by underground, it was so convenient!
Anyway, at 11 I met Helene next to the Opera (pretty building, really pretty ;)) and we went for a walk around Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries and eventually ended up in Starbucks near the Opera, a really cool Starbucks that didn't look like Starbucks at all! After 2 hours Helene had to go to work and I went to explore Paris on my own. I made a route Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Seine, Notre Damme, Montmarte so I basically covered all important places.Sure, I'd love to see some more or spend more time in few of the places but in one day it was still really good. I took a train back to Brussels at 20.25 and was here already before 22 (oh, Thalys!).
From interesting things in Paris, besides the charming atmosphere and an awesome Starbucks I'll definitely remember one neighborhood I accidentally ended up in, on Montmarte. It was mostly for black people so when I was entering the underground I felt like in American movies that take place in Bronx;) And there was one, long street full of shops with fake hair, hairdressers etc, you couldn't find anything else on that street, just hair...

Also, about Brussels: I knew before that there're lots of Polish people but didn't expect that many of them to be here! You can hear Polish language everywhere! And what was really amusing for me: on the mineral water bottle you can find signs in 4 languages: French, Flamish, German and Polish. WTF??

Anyway, today I was supposed to visit Wallonia but I'm still so tired after Paris that I guess I'll just skip it and go to Lille in the afternoon, just for a drink to meet up with Hanna, Chris and Clement, after over 2 years :)

that was an interesting day, proving me that the train chaos doesn't happen only in Poland. In the morning I went from Rotterdam to Arnhem to meet up with Antonette which was lots of fun, as always. And of course I had to do the massive shopping for tea and cookies, but mostly tea;) (guess I have enough of Dutch tea for at least a year!;)) Then I was supposed to go back to Brussels via Roosendaal and the first part of the journey went fine but in Roosendaal it turned out that all trains to Belgium are cancelled (apparently there was the lack of carriages;)) and noone really knew when something will go in the direction of Antwerpen (I had to get to Brussels but Antwerpen would have been fine too, after all it's Belgium). After a long time of confusion they decided they'll just send a train from Belgium and it'll go to Antwerpen as a stop train. It took ages to get there, it was way too hot but I managed to end up in Antwerpen after all. Then I was even lucky to catch InterCity train to Brussels after just 10 minutes but after Mechelen the train got incredibly slow. And so in Brussels it was 25 mninutes later (and the way from Mechelen takes only 15 minutes so that's really something!). So yeah, 3 hours later but I was in Brussels eventually! It's just a pity that because of this confusion I wasn't able to meet up with Ricardo, who I haven't seen for 5 years! or well, we still have 2 days to try to see each other!

And when I was walking from the train station to Juha's place I kind of understood why she hated this city.I mean, all the touristic sights are lovely and Manneken Pis is the cutest ever but all these Turkish-Morrocan-whatever neighborhoods are kind of scary. I felt really weird and anxious there. You can easily notice it's not European culture at all. And even if I have nothing against it and would love to visit both Turkey and Morocco really soon I felt not good there... But on the other hand, the Netherlands felt really good, almost like being back at home. I really don't know why it makes me feel so good but it certainly does!:)

Anyway, Paris tomorrow! This place was so pretty, the weather was perfect, the landscape definitely didn't look like the Nethertlands. Oh how I enjoyed it! and spending time with Maaike is fun as always! It's amazing how often we're meeting, how often I'm in the Netherlands and how good I feel here. Tomorrow I'm off to Arnhem to meet up with Antonette and then I'm back to Belgium.
And yesterday I was in Oostende where I met up with Ilse and had a lovely time too, saw some off the beaten paths sights of the city which were really interesting too.

It's kind of amazing how last week I was in the Alps and now I'm already at the North See. I mean, I'm here for the 4th time already and I know the center pretty well so no surprises here. But today, after the walk on Grand Place and next to Maneken Pis (who was dressed up!:)) I went to see the flea market, the Atomium, the army museum and European Commision building and that was something new for me, and definitely interesting! In the evening we're supposed to go to the Grand Place again as it must look so amazing then, with all the lights on etc. It's also so good to meet Juha again, we haven't seen each other since winter and well, it's kind of funny and weird to see her here. But yeah, I like Brussels like always and I'm definitely having a good time here!

Tomorrow most probably I'll go to the seaside, to Oostende, and from there to the Netherlands, to visit Maaike, travel with her to Texel, and then to meet Antonette in Arnhem:) And I bought a train ticket to Paris! I'll be there just for one day, on Wednesday, but from 9am till 8 pm so I guess I'll have enough time to see some importarnt parts of it! I'm definitely excited about Paris. I've been there only once, 12 years ago, and just for 6 hours so now it's time to see it better.

Also the train journey yesterday wasn't so bad, 8 hours in the train from Zurich passed by pretty quickly. Just the landscape became a little bit boring in France and kept like that until Brussels. But now I have the idea how north of France, south of Luxembourg and east of Belgium looks like ;)

so my time in Switzerland is almost over, I'm about to catch a train to Zurich and then to Brussels in couple of minutes. I really wish I could stay here longer, I'm really impressed by the beauty of this country, I knew it's pretty but I didn't know it's so amazing. The mountains are spectacular, the cities are really cosy and beautiful. Yes, I do like it here, a lot. Just the weather was really bad, especially on Wednesday when I was in Geneva, Lausanne (didn't like it at all but I blame it on the rain) and Fribourg. Yesterday was much better (but still far from being perfect) and I could see a little bit of mountains here and there when I was in Thun, Interlaken and Luzern. And I completely fell for Bern, it's definitely the cutest capital city ever! So yes, I do plan to come back to Switzerland, really soon.
And now it's time for another part of Europe...

so I'm in Switzerland. From the very first impression, after crossing the border with Italy, I fell in love with the beauty of that country. The mountains are just spectacular here! I would love to spend weeks, months just staring at them, they are so amazing! Unfortunately the weather kind of sucks, it's supposed to rain later on today so I'm off to the mountains tomorrow. Soon today I'll be heading to west part of Switzerland: Geneva, Lausanne and Fribourg.

So far the highlight of my trip was Bohinj in Slovenia, the lake located in the middle of the mountains. The water was just insanely clear there, the weather was amazing and there were hardly any people around so it just made the place perfect. I already have the idea of spending some more time next year in Slovenia but well, I always have too many plans so we'll see. But Slovenia is amazing, such a small country and so much to offer.

Then, after a really awful night in the train from Villach to Bologna, I spend a day in Italy where I visited Piacenza, Milano and Stresa and met up with Elena and Marta. I really had a nice time with them and well, Italy always makes me happy :) and especially the food in Italy :)

After Switzerland I was supposed to go to France but my backpack is getting broken I don't want to risk it getting break for good and so I decided to skip Grenoble and Annecy (I really regret that one) and just go to Brussels where I'll stay for couple of days and just go for trips from there: to Paris, to Lille, to the Netherlands... so like I planned.

But now Switzerland :)

Hello from Ljubljana!

So second day of my trip is over and after a small breakdwon yesterday I finally started enjoying it. Guess I´m not used to travelling alone anymore. After all I really do enjoy travelling together with boh and haven´t been at a proper trip on my own for 2 years!

Anyway, yesterday weather sucked big time so after I got totally wet in Hallstatt I wanted to go back home straight away. I don´t know why it spoiled my day so much but well, it did. And trains were late, there was a bus replacement and it rained, rained, rained. But Hallstatt was lovely, even if I imagined it completely different (better?). Unfortunately because of the rain I spent there only one hour and still it was more than enough for this weather.

Then on my way to Graz I could enjoy amazing views from the train, including a skijumpjng hill in Bad Mitterndorf (it is like a dream from my teenage years coming true ;) Because of the delay I was 2 hours later in Graz but it actually didn´t matter that much as the city was pretty scaring in the evening and so I didn´t do much sightseeing then. The hostel I was staying at was nice (much calmer than one in Ljubljana I guess) and I got a really good sleep.

In the morning I went to explore Graz and it was actually much better at this time of the day (but still empty). I had this stupid idea to climb the castle hill, and with my extremely heavy backpack it wasn´t that easy. But well, it was definitely worth it ;)

Then after 1 hour train journey I was already in Slovenia, in Maribor. I didn´t expect it to be that pretty, with lots of cafes, markets, people around! Definitely a great city to chill out! And the hills around were amazing too! It was the same all way to Ljubljana, I was just staring outside the window for 3 hours and it wasn´t enough for me! And from Ljubljana you can already see Alps! And that is where I´m heading tomorrow!

xxx

kami

loooong time no update here but as most of you might now we've been through a lot lately. Fortunately things are much better now but still not best and still not back to the normal way.
Bohun is feeling better and better each day but still not strong enough to join me on the trip around Europe so I decided to on my own. I'm leaving in less than 24 hours and will be back on 13th September. I'm gonna do a circle around Europe, visiting 9 countries: Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. I'm gonna meet lots of friends, pals and some couchsurfers on my way. I'm really excited and can't wait to be already on the road.

I'll do my best to update this blog from my trip, whenever I find some internet connection. And the lack of internet connection at home doesn't help either.

Anyway, we spent last weekend at the seaside, based in Gdynia but also visiting Hel and Sopot. We were really lucky with the weather on Saturday, got pretty sunburnt as well and while the rest of Poland was dealing with heavy rains we were enjoying the beautiful sun, ha! :) And seals were the cutest ever! We are planning to go back to the seaside later this summer, to visit more places and enjoy the beauty of the area!

And our summer holidays are looking brighter and brighter :) we're already leaving this month :)

Pictures are in our Picasa gallery!

long time no update but there's really not much travelling-wise going on in our lives. bohun is spending the week at his cottage where Kami was for the weekend as well. But as the weather sucked big time we spent most of the time reading, playing cards or doing nothing. When it stoped raining Kami had lots of fun with her camera and rain drops, which resulted in many random pictures that you can find in our Picasa gallery.

next weekend we're gonna spend at the seaside, in Gdynia. just 3 days but better this than nothing. and see is always nice, especially that we haven't been there since November. And Kraków is pretty awesome too, so maybe we should move there...
On Friday evening there was a huge thunder storm so we just spent some time hiding from it on the old town and then we headed in the opposite directions - Kami to her aunt and boh to his mum. We met again on Saturday morning, walked around a little bit and then met up with Sabine. As Kami promised her to go to Zakrzówek and show her around they did so and boh stayed in the old town.
Zakrzówek was amazing as always. When the sun shines it really feels like Croatia or some other mediterranean country. Unfortunately because of the awful wind we couldn't stay there for too long. But still it was so pretty! On the way back we stoped in Kazimierz as Kami wanted to introduce Sabine to zapiekanki (which she just loved, as everyone else does;)) and then went for a walk on the old town. It was so nice to see Sabine again, we definitely should meet more often. But after all it's not that far away from Austria to Poland:)
Then we spent 3,5 hours in the train to Zakopane but the weather was lovely, the view outside was really pretty so the trip went by really quickly. And we could see the mountains so clearly, it was amazing! Unfortunately there was still lots of snow in the higher parts and Kami didn't feel really well so we decided not to go hiking and just enjoy the mountains from far away. Better this than nothing, right;)? We also went to the main touristic street of Zakopane, Krupówki, had some coffee there, got ourselves a traditional cheese from Zakopane area etc. And suddenly it was already 4pm and we had to head back to Warszawa;( but we'll go back to the mountains soon for sure!
Such a short and actually uneventful weekend but we both really need it, to get away from here even if just for a while. Shame, a big one but we're get there eventually, there's no doubt about that! So instead of exciting weekend in Czech Republic we had a nice weekend in Poland, spend in rainy Warsaw (at least there was a night of the museum which was good too) and sunny Łódź (oh how we both adore this city!). So it was nice anyway, at least we didn't sit at home and waste time!
And this weekend we're about to head to south Poland. First to Krakow for a day, to meet up with Sabine, eat some zapiekanki and enjoy the place as always, and then for another day to Zakopane, as we both definitely need to visit mountains, it's been way too long since we last were there! We just hope the weather will be good enough to hike a little bit. Two weeks ago, when we were in Fro for a weekend, we also went for a while to Serpelice to sit at the Bug's riverside and enjoy the beautiful nature. They also have a lovely wooden church there, so pretty! On the way back to Fro we took a longer route around old villages, fields and apple raisings.
Then in the middle of the week we visited Pulawy after work but as the weather was nice and we were there pretty early we decided to go to Kazimierz, an old medieval town just 12 kms away. Usually it's full of tourists so you can hardly walk around but as it was only April and a random weekday it was amazingly empty. We climbed the 3 crosses mountain (from where we could see a beautiful sunset over Vistula river), walked around the market square, sat at the riverside, got bitten by mosqitos... it was such a nice and relaxing evening in the middle of the normal week, we should do that more often!
And last weekend, when we were in Fro again, we went for a day trip to Białowieża to see bizons. First we stoped for few minutes in Kleszczele where is a cute blue and white Orthodox church. And Kleszczele itself is a nice, small town with the provincial atmosphere. Then we visited Hajnówka (where Kami's mum spent her childhood) and sandly enough there was not much to see, besides another Orthodox church which was really impressing. It was big and reminded Kami of Gaudi's style that is so popular in Barcelona. Inside the church was huge as well, almost that the one Kami has visited in Riga! So yeah, the highlight of Hajnówka is definitely the Orthodox church, and nothing more ;) Then it was time for bizons! They were a little lives that these we've seen in Pszczyna in March but still pretty boring. The laziest animals ever! But other animals we could see in the reserve were funnier, even if not very entertaining because of the hot weather. At the end we stoped in Białowieża, which was a lovely town with yet another Orthodox church (this time it was brick-red), a small lake and nice forest. A perfect place to walk around. Next time we're in Fro and have some time we definitely go for another trip in the region as it's so pretty there!

This weekend Kami's friend is comming to Warsaw which means some exploring of the city. Then bohun is going for the whole week to Ostróda to work, and enjoy lakes. So there'll be plenty to write about!

And pictures can be found as always in Picasa!

---------------

The weekend wasn't as eventful as we'd like to but still we managed to do some sightseeing. On Saturday the weather was autumn-ish for most of the day so Kami spent the time dealing with her thesis (booooriiiing!) but in the afternoon it became nice and sunny again so we went for a walk to Lasek na Kole. It was just a regular park but it was lovely to walk around and enjoy the beautiful spring flora (and trains;)). We both love spring, the day gets longer and longer, everything becomes greener and full of life...just amazing!
Then on Sunday we went for a trip outside of the city, to Konstancin Jeziorna. You can find a nice spa park with the inhaling area. Actually it was one of the reasons why we went there since bohun is dealing with some asthma problems and breathing in the enriched air from there would only do him good. He loved that air anyway and Kami hated it, it was way too salty for her (but hey, you don't need to like the medicine, right?;)). After some time in the park we sat at the edge of the small river laughing (kami) and taking pictures (bohun) of swans and ducks chasing each other around.
From Konstancin we went to Wilanów for a while as Kami had never been there before and was curious about the palace. It was nice, even really nice but as the quee to get to the park was too long (it's ridiculous you actually have to pay teh entrance fee to enter the park!) we decided to leave it for the next time.
Also on Sunday, in the evening, bohun went for a small train trip to Sochaczew but Kami decided to stay at home and deal with her favourite activity - thesis.

Pictures as always can be found in our Picasa gallery! :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Kami got pretty annoyed at her uni in Krakow and decided to come back to Warsaw already on Saturday evening, and the weather on Sunday was just gorgeous, we decided to spend that day outise, in some nice place. We had couple of ideas: Gdańsk and Hel on the seaside (but the train was way too early), Łódź (but we were too late for the train) but eventually we went just outside of Warsaw, to Góra Kalwaria and Czersk.
Well, our first stop was already in Warsaw, at Powązki, the old military cemetry which Kami wanted to see for a while. It's a truly beautiful but also depressing place. It's unbeliveable that many of the people who died during the war were younger than we are now. It feels like we're wasting our time now on worrying about unimportant things while we just should enjoy every moment of our lifes... But still there's something magical about cemetries and its atmosphere and we'll have to visit Powązki more often.
Then we were off to Góra Kalwaria as it sounded like a lovely, multicultural town. Well, it was nice, old, dirty (Kami loved it!;)) but it lacked the atmosphere. There was not that many interesting stuff to see and it felt like in Slovakia (there's something unique about Slovak cities and towns and Góra Kalwaria had exactly the same atmosphere). After some problems we also managed to find the Jewish cemetry (the highlight of the place for Kami) but it was closed ;( at least we managed to see it from the outside and it looked really impressive. The graves were hidden in the grass, some of them very destroyed...it was even kind of scary...;)
From Góra Kalwaria we drove to Czersk, which is just 5 kms away and hides the beautiful ruin of the old medieval castle. It wasn't that big but still looked amazing. And the view from the tower was really worth all this climbing on narrow and high steps;)
We also had a plan to visit the Jewish Cemetery in Karczew but as Kami was so stupid and didn't look carefully on the map before we couldn't really find it (and so what that we were driving on the street parallel to the one the Cemetery is at;)). Oh well, at least we have another reason to visit Karczew, probably together with Otwock then.

And of course we had to took some pictures which you can find on our Picasa gallery!

A zapisywanie wszystkiego tutaj będzie najprostszym sposobem:)

Niemcy, Austria, Lichtenstein, Szwajcaria, Francja, Luksemburg, Belgia, Holandia

Niemcy, Słowenia, Chorwacja, Bośnia i Hercegowina, Serbia, Macedonia, Turcja, Bułgaria, Węgry

Niemcy, Francja, Anglia, Szkocja, Irlandia, Holandia

:*

kami i bohun

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1st day fo the month is always a good start of something, right? So as it's 1st April (gosh, it feels like NYE was just yesterday!) we decided to create this blog. As we both enjoy travelling and we always try to explore new (and old) places we thought it'll be a good idea to share our stories and thoughts about visited places with you, our friends and family. And writing everything down in here will be the easiest way to do so!

As March was a really good month for us, with trips to Prague, Slovakia (Ruzomberok, Strbske Pleso and Zilina), Pszczyna, Stockholm and Grabarka, April doesn't seem to be that bright, mostly due to numerous Kami's visits in Krakow. But weather is getting warmer and sunnier, the spring is slowly comming to Poland, the day is much longer and so we'll focus on exploring Warsaw, there's plenty to see here as well.

Right now we're in the middle of deciding about our summer holidays and as we have 3 different ideas help us decide where we should head to:

Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands

Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary

Germany, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands

all ideas and opinions are very welcome as we just can't decide what to choose;)

So yeah, you'll probably be informed about our updates here. And comments are always nice;)
In the meantime enjoy our pictures from our previous trips (link can be found in the right menu).

xxx

kami and bohun
